Payment Reminders & Options


In order to assure continued coverage under your MEEMIC policy, payment of the renewal premium must be received or postmarked before 12:01 a.m. on the the due date indicated in your notice. You must pay at least the minimum due amount indicated.

In addition to mailing out renewal notices 33 days before your renewal date, and sending out reminder letters, MEEMIC has several options available to help make paying your premiums timely and convenient:

  1. By Mail: Payments should be sent in the MEEMIC billing envelope provided with your invoice and mailed to: MEEMIC Insurance Company, P.O. Box 553679, Detroit, MI 48255-3679. Please mail your payment at least seven days before your due date.
  2. By Automated Payment Plan: Every month, APP automatically transfers funds from your checking or savings account to pay your bill. Please contact our office for more information or to sign up for this convenient and popular monthly payment option.
  3. By phone using the MEEMIC automated billing information and payment system: By dialing 1-800-231-5744 you can conveniently make your payment 24 hours a day 7 days a week using MEEMIC's new automated billing information and payment system. Please note: The automated pay by phone system is not available for policies that are already cancelled or nonrenewed.
  4. By speaking with a Customer Service Representative: If you would like to speak with a Customer Service Representative to make your payment, then you may call MEEMIC toll free at 1-888-463-3642, extension # 31119. You may also call our local office. You must use this option if you are currently nonrenewed or cancelled.
  5. By Web: You may pay online by credit card or check. Click Make a Payment here.
  6. By stopping in personally at our local office: We can make an electronic payment for you by using our Bill Matrix system. You may use a Visa, Mastercard, money order, or personal check. We do not accept cash.

If you want to know specifics about your MEEMIC bill then a convenient way to receive this information is to call 1-800-231-5744 and enter your policy number. The system will give you your outstanding premium balance, the last payment amount received and the date it was received, the minimum payment due, the due date as of the last bill, and the next due date. If you use automatic or escrow banking services to pay your bill, then we recommend that you use this service several days before your due date in order to check that your financial institution has properly paid your bill on time as you are still responsible for the payment of your premiums. Your financial institution still needs to "snail mail" your payment to MEEMIC, so encourage them to pay in a timely fashion.

Remember that with electronic banking, you can no longer "float" checks. Therefore, there must be sufficient funds in your account at the time of payment.

In summary, please make every effort to avoid nonrenewal or cancellation by using one of the six available payment options to insure that your payment is made before 12:01 a.m. of the due date. If you do not make payment on time, then you do not have insurance coverage and you must call the MEEMIC Billing Department and/or our office on the next business day in order to seek reinstatement of your lapsed policy.
